Alberta-shot The Last of Us wins eight Emmys, including one for Calgarian Michael PlayfairBack to video
Playfair shared the award with Marc Fishman and Kevin Roache for outstanding sound mixing for a one-hour comedy or drama series. It was Playfair’s fifth nomination and first win. He was previously nominated in the same category for Fargo in 2017, 2016 and 2014, and for the miniseries Broken Trail in 2007.

The Creative Arts Emmys were held Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles. The Last of Us, which was shot in 180 locations throughout Alberta, also picked up wins for outstanding special visual effects, outstanding main title design, outstanding sound editing, outstanding prosthetic makeup and outstanding picture editing.
Actress Storm Reid won for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her role as Riley Abel, while Nick Offerman won for outstanding guest actor for his role of Bill.
The Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards honour the best in artistic and technical achievement in American prime-time television programming.
The Last of Us, which filmed for a year in Alberta, is up for a total of 24 Emmys. The Emmy Awards will be held Jan. 15.
