Bettina Mueller and Chetankumar Patel each added Encore to their lottery tickets and won the top prize by matching all seven numbers.

After scanning her ticket at a store, Mueller didn’t believe she’d won $1 million at first. So she had the clerk check it again for her.

“I was numb with shock,” Mueller stated in a news release issued by Ontario Lottery Gaming Corp.

“When I saw I had won a million dollars, it felt unreal. I started shaking and I haven’t stopped. I have dreamt of winning but never thought it would happen. I am so thankful.”

Mueller, who works in the health-care industry, said she would use her winnings to buy a house and adopt a dog.

“I am excited for this next chapter of my life,” stated Mueller, who has been regularly playing the lottery for the past six months, in a news release.

Kevin Roddy, who took home $100,000 through Encore, has been playing the lottery for two decades and always buys Encore.

Like Mueller, he didn’t think he’d won at first. After checking his ticket online, he went to the store to double-check since he thought he had made a mistake.

“I scanned the ticket while I was (at the store). I was still unsure if I had won until that moment. It was unbelievable,” Roddy stated in the release. “It’s a great feeling and a lot more than the free plays I am used to.”

Roddy, who works in construction, intends to first pay off his mortgage and then figure out what to do with the rest of his winnings, the release stated.

Chetankumar Patel won $1 million by matching all seven Encore numbers on his ticket for the April 10 Lotto 6/49 draw, while Mueller’s Encore was on a ticket for Lotto 6/49’s March 27 draw.
